Rejuvo Choose the Kersten UBS - A Perfect Partner for Path Edging

Rejuvo reclaim, strengthen and maintain pavements and footpaths to prolong their use. Something we encourage very strongly. They have been using Kersten equipment for edging footpaths.

Renewing the street with Rejuvo

When footpaths become uneven, potholed, broken up and damaged, then Rejuvo provide a cost effective way to prolong the life of the surface, using a product that is mixed and applied over the surface to repair moderate and severe footpath surface deterioration. Rejuvo JPCS Footways products – including Rejuvoflex® and RejuvoMak® – also delay future deterioration, significantly prolonging the lifecycle of footpaths.

The benefits to this also extend to weed prevention - eliminating the crevices and pits in the surface means there are far less places for detritus to get trapped, leading to far fewer pockets of nutrients for weeds to grow in. It also allows water to run off how it should, reducing the possibilities for freeze-thaw damage.

Removing detritus with Kersten equipment

In order for their products to bind effectively with the existing surface, any soil and vegetation needs to be removed, to get back to a clean and solid path.

To do this, Rejuvo now use the Kersten UBS and Weedbrush.

Prior to using Kersten Equipment, the Rejuvo team were using hand tools and pressure washers to remove the soil that had overgrown onto footpaths and pavements. They found that this tended to cause more damage and take much longer than using a Kersten UBS and weedbrush.

They have tried other weedbrushes, but have found that the power and comfort, as well as the reliability of the UBS is unparalleled when it comes to clearing the soil and grass that encroaches onto the surface. Speed is critical, and even in heavily soiled areas, the Kersten UBS allows them to clear between 500 - 1000 meters of footpath per day with one operator. This speed allows them to save a considerable amount of money over doing it by hand, meaning the equipment pays for itself quite quickly.

Part of the advantage comes from the friability of the material after it has been brushed. This allows a much faster clean up than if the material has been removed with a spade - in which case it comes off in clumps. The friable soil is much easier to blow onto the verge, or to sweep up than the clumpy material, which requires more manual handling.

Rejuvo now has a small fleet of Kersten Machines used in various projects across the country and has been using them for the last few years. Rob Lloyd commented that in this time the machines have been very reliable and Kersten has been a great supplier to deal with, finding the staff especially helpful and knowledgeable.
